UtilityCloud launches Wattson, an AI assistant for energy retailers
UtilityCloud announces Wattson, an AI assistant built into the energy retail platform. Wattson answers questions about how the platform works using the help centre, shows the sources behind each answer, and can look up customer data for organisations that enable it.
Running an energy retail business means a steady flow of questions, whether you work in customer service, billing or operations. Why was this market message rejected? How do price lists work on a product? What has happened on this contract lately? Most of these answers are already written down in the help centre or recorded in the platform, and with Wattson, going from a question to the right article, data or action is easier than ever.
Wattson searches the UtilityCloud help centre, reads the relevant articles and answers with sources that link to the articles it used. It answers in your own language.
Built into the platform
UtilityCloud started developing Wattson this summer and built it directly into the platform, rather than as a separate tool or a third party extension. It works from the same help centre that UtilityCloud customers already use, which is kept in sync as articles are updated.
Organisations can also let Wattson look up their own data. This is off by default and read-only. When enabled, it can also answer questions about customers, invoices, contracts, consumption and events, and show these results as tables or charts, timelines, KPI tiles, and navigate to the relevant page in UtilityCloud.
Wattson runs on Microsoft Azure in the EU data zone like our other services, and customer data is not used to train models.
Available to all customers soon
Wattson will be rolled out to all UtilityCloud customers shortly. Going forward, UtilityCloud will give Wattson more tools for looking up data securely and taking actions in the platform, with users in control of what happens.
